Bio

Hi! I’m Lisa McElfresh (pronounced mackle-fresh) and I am passionate about helping students find their place on campus and in the world. I have been at NKU since 2008, when I began working as a Hall Director. Following that, I worked in Career Services for 13 years. I love helping students explore internship and co-op opportunities, discover ways to gain additional experience, and prepare for their careers.

While earning my bachelor’s degree in communication/media studies and mathematics at Georgetown College, I was actively involved on campus as a Resident Assistant and undergraduate Hall Director. I also worked in the Student Life and Community Service offices and participated in several student organizations. These experiences sparked my passion for supporting college students and led me to pursue a master’s degree in College Student Personnel at Miami University.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. You’ll often find me listening to a suspense book, watching Survivor or political drama re-runs (I ❤️ Madam Secretary), or watching cake and cookie decorating videos - dreaming that I possess those skills, but knowing I don’t! My husband is a roller coaster enthusiast (yes, it really is a thing) and we love visiting various amusement parks and traveling together.
