July 25, 2023 - Northern Kentucky University has received a grant from the Villa Albertine, a new French institution for arts and ideas in the United States, to host the Albertine Cinémathèque Film Festival on NKU’s campus throughout the spring 2024 semester.
“The Albertine Cinémathèque Film Festival continues the commitment of NKU to foster international cinema education as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to internationalize and diversify our curriculum,” Dr. Caryn Connelly, chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures, said. “The Celebration of French Film provides our students and the greater community a chance to watch and discuss a range of both contemporary and classic French cinema as a means of raising awareness and understanding of the global community.”
During the film festival, a slate of films will be shown, followed by a discussion of the film, moderated by an NKU professor from the Departments of World Languages and Literatures and English. The showings are free and open to the public in the NKU Griffin Hall Digitorium.
A full schedule of films and discussion moderators will be released at a later date.
