School of Computing and Analytics Scholarships

Eligibility: 

• Must be accepted for admission as a degree-seeking student with one of the following as a declared major:  Applied Software Engineering, Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Health Informatics, and Media Informatics. 
• Must have a weighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher
  
• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident. 
• Applicants must submit a 300-400 word personal essay reflecting on the experience of African American women working in, or aspiring to work in, technology.

Amount:  $5000

Duration: One academic year; renewable up to 3 times provided awardee reapplies and meets renewal criteria (cumulative 3.25 GPA, progression in major, participation in one organization associated with NKU African American Student Initiatives).

Eligibility:  

• Available to incoming freshmen female students declaring majors in the following IT disciplines in the College of Informatics: Business Informatics, Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics or Media Informatics.

Amount: Maximum of $3000 total towards tuition, books, and/or housing based on need.

Award winners will be matched with a faculty mentor in their discipline starting their freshmen year.

Renewal Requirements: 

• Remain in one of the COI IT disciplines (you may change majors within the majors above and remain eligible).
• Earn 24 or more credit hours per academic year (AP, IB, dual enrollment, and transfer credits do not count).
• Maintain a cumulative NKU GPA of 3.0 or higher and a 3.0 GPA or higher in your major.

• Students receiving the S³OAR Scholarship must participate in the S³OAR Scholars Program

• Make satisfactory progress toward your STEM degree as defined by following your approved academic plan
• Maintain a cumulative NKU GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students achieving a 2.5  at the end of their freshman year, a 2.6 or higher at the end of their sophomore year, or a 2.7 or higher at the end their junior year will remain eligible, but will undergo an approved remediation plan to retain their scholarship.
• Complete the FAFSA every year to document continuing financial need
